Gary "Ringo" E. Ryant

Gary "Ringo" Ryant, age 60, of Ridgeway, IA, died unexpectedly at home on Saturday, March 30, 2024.

A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 8, 2024, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Spillville, IA, with Deacon Dan O'Brien officiating.  Visitation will be on Sunday, April 7, from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Spillville, and will continue one hour prior to the Memorial Service on Monday. 

Gary Edward Ryant was born October 31st, 1963, in Cresco, Iowa, the son of Joe and Romana Ryant (Zeien). He graduated from South Winneshiek High School and worked at Imperial Roofing after graduation. On June 26th, 2004, he was united in marriage to Jane Rasmusson of Cresco. They lived together in Ridgeway for the next 24 years. Gary owned and operated Ryant Construction for 15 years; before taking the leap to purchase a bar and restaurant with Jane. They owned and operated The Fireman’s of Ridgeway together for seven and half years. During his time owning the bar he joined the Sweeney Builders construction crew where he worked for the next 11 years. Gary was very passionate about his skill and ownership and was proud to show his work to anyone who asked. Gary never failed to crack a joke in any situation and definitely was not afraid to speak his mind. He was proud of, and loved everyone.

Gary’s survivors include his wife Jane; two daughters Ashten (Andy) Lienhard & Chezny “Tiger” Ryant (special friend, Clayton Droste); son Zac Frana; mother-in-law Martha Rasmusson; brother-in-law Dean (Holly) Rasmusson; nephews Drew Rasmusson, Dakota Rasmusson, Dawson Rasmusson, Aden Rasmusson; sister Patricia Pinter and her son Shane (Elisa) Pinter and children Michaela Pinter, Josephine Pinter, Katheryn Pinter, and step-children Jeff (Laura) Hulsebus, Dawn (Othello) Rollon, Dana (Kipp Kellogg) Pinter, and Chad Pinter; brother Frank (Donna) Ryant and their daughter Sara (Lonnie) Dishinger and children Konner Parr, Kaleb Parr, Jaxon Parr, and daughter Anne (Carl) Piper and son Elijah Piper; sister Judy (Richard) Jessen and their son Chris Jessen and children Grace & Grant Jessen; brother Jim (Denise) Ryant and their daughter Michelle (Kendal) Huinker and children Bode & Eloise Huinker, and son Mark (Irissa) Ryant and children Peter, John, Michael, Paul, Mary, Sarah Ryant, and daughter Monica (Jack) Ryant; sister Karen (Mike) Hutzel and children Jacob (Megan) Hutzel and Jennifer Hutzel.

Gary was preceded in death by his father Joseph in 2011, his mother Romana in 2012; maternal grandparents John & Wilhelmina Zeien; Frank & Mary Ryant; brother John in 1982; and brother-in-law Joseph E. Pinter in 2007; and father-in-law John Rasmusson in 2005.
